OUR SENIOR PASTOR
Rev. Sidney Williams Speaking Request
Pastor Sidney Williams has a profound prophetic mantle that distinguishes him as a remarkable visionary who has made a powerful impact in the Faith and Business communities. He is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with strong Southern roots in North Carolina and Louisiana. He was raised in the Pentecostal tradition and preached his first sermon at the age 15, but was not ready to yield to the Call. On November 11, 2010 he received his first pastoral appointment in the United States as the 51st pastor of the Bethel Church in Morristown, New Jersey.
Since 2005, Pastor Sidney has been training leaders of faith communities using a proprietary model he developed for churches – F.I.S.H. In addition to the leadership development training he does at local churches, Pastor Sidney is [an adjunct professor at Drew Theological Seminary and] a Senior Lecturer at Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, OH. He has also lectured in graduate business programs and taught corporate executives from Asia, Europe and the United States. His preaching and teaching focuses on empowering both believers and nonbelievers. Pastor Sidney has been a requested guest on major news media on issues of faith and economics. In 2009, Fox Business News requested Rev. Williams to respond to the Encyclical Letter from Pope Benedict XVI on Love in Truth – Caritas in Veritate. Pastor Sidney is the author of Morning Meditations: 100 Days to Believing You’re Successful and Fishing Differently: Ministry Formation in the Marketplace.
Morning Meditations is written to help people in the first 100 days of your new assignment or first 100 days to a new outlook on life. Pastor Sidney encourages the readers of his book to meditate on how each day moved them one step closer to true success as they prepare for bed each night, and when they awake each day, readers are encouraged to take time to read and reflect on the Morning Meditation to frame their new day.
Fishing Differently was written to help established congregations access multiple sources of capital to fund transformational ministries that will have a measurable impact on their communities. This book not only offers critical insight on this process and practical examples, but will also help pastors and church leaders guide congregations through a season of transition.
His Greatest Passion for God’s Church
Pastor Sidney is also committed to the work of missions around the world, teaching or serving alongside of our partners in Gospel ministry, and to develop lasting relationships. Pastor Sidney has also committed himself to studying the intersection of Theology and Economics. In 2018, Pastor Sidney earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Payne Theological Seminary. His dissertation was titled: “Rediscovering Sacred Pathways for Spiritual Healing and Renewal in the African Methodist Episcopal Church: A Communal Model for Pastoral Care in the Twenty-First Century.” Prior to accepting his call to ordained ministry in 2004 under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Harry L. Seawright at Union Bethel AME Church (Brandywine, MD), Pastor Sidney worked for the leading Wall Street firms in New York City and helped to start several companies.
